HUMILITY

JOHN 8:32
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free”.

WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
Jesus tells people that true freedom only comes when a person has learned the truth. But this is not about knowledge or facts – it is about the deepest truth revealed in God. Without Him, a person often lives in captivity: in deception, in guilt, in dependence on others' opinions, in fears. All of these bind the person internally, even if outwardly the person is free.
But when he or she encounters God's truth, they begin to see themselves and the world through different eyes.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
1. Truth is not a theory, but Christ Himself.
To learn the truth is not simply to get to know and study something, but to meet Jesus, Who Himself is the Truth (John 14:6).
2. Truth liberates.
Freedom is not legal or external, but internal: liberation from habits, addictions, self-deception, and sin. When the light of truth penetrates, sin loses its power.
3. Learning the truth is a path.
Simply knowing a fact is not enough – knowledge must become practice: recognition, repentance, behavioral changes. Truth liberates those who open their hearts to it and are willing to act and follow it.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Because every person seeks freedom. Some seek it in money, some in entertainment, some in independence from others. But all of this provides only temporary relief. True freedom is peace and lightness of soul that no one and nothing can take away. And it only comes when we know the One Who is the Truth – God.
CONCLUSION
Freedom is not simply living “the way I want”, but living as God says. Only then does the heart become free from fear, guilt, loneliness, and emptiness. Truth opens the way to a new life – a life filled with meaning and boundless love.
FINAL THOUGHT
The more we understand the truth about God and ourselves in Him, the less room there is in our lives for sin and fear. True freedom begins not with external changes, but with inner light.
HOW TO USE IT TODAY
• Ask yourself: What is holding me captive inside? Resentment? Fear? Addiction? Guilt?
• Bring this to God in prayer and ask Him to reveal and learn the truth.
• Read the Gospel, because it is there that the truth is revealed.
PRAYER
Lord, I wish to know the truth that sets the heart free. Show me where I live in captivity and set me free from it. Help me always believe and rely on You, not on the voice of fear or doubt. Fill me with Your light and give me the freedom to live as You desire. May this freedom touch not only me but also other people through my life. Amen.
