LAMENTATIONS 3:22–23
“Because of the Lord’s great mercy we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!”
WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
These words were spoken not in a calm time, but when everything about a person is collapsing: the city, life, hopes. And at this point the thought sounds: a man holds on not because he has everything under control, but because God has not ceased to be merciful.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
“Because of the Lord’s great mercy we are not consumed” – the meaning is that man is not his own support. Even when everything seems to be based on effort, there is actually something deeper that supports him. And the Bible calls it God's mercy.
This is not “pity,” but God’s attitude in which He does not destroy, does not reject, but preserves.
“His compassions never fail” — human patience ends. People get tired, disappointed, and distant. But the verse says: God is not like that. His attitude is not exhausted even when a person is weak, makes mistakes or falls.
“New every morning” this is the key. It is not about that there used to be help. And about
that every day a person is given a new opportunity: to start from scratch, not to live only by yesterday’s mistakes, not to get stuck in the past. It is like breathing: today there is life, therefore there is a chance.
“Great is Your faithfulness” – faithfulness is when one does not change no matter what. Everything around can collapse, man can change, but God remains the same. And this is exactly the true support.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
A person usually relies on: stability, plans, finances, other people, his own strength.
But all this may disappear. And when this happens, the person feels that they are losing their support.
This verse says there is a foundation that does not depend on circumstances. And here is the deepest thought:
you live not because you did everything right, but because God continues to give you life and a chance.
HOW TO USE IT TODAY
• Do not think that everything depends only on you.
• Do not get stuck in the mistakes of the past.
• Take each day as a new opportunity.
• Learn to rely not on circumstances, but on God.
CONCLUSION
Man holds on not by his own strength, but by the fact that God never ceases to be faithful.
FINAL THOUGHT
Sometimes it seems that everything rests on the last resource. But in fact, there is something that holds deeper than any circumstances. And this is exactly what prevents one from disappearing.
PRAYER
Lord, I often think that everything depends on me, and when something falls apart, I fail.
Thank You for not changing and not leaving me. Thank you for Your mercy. Help me not to live in the past and not get stuck in my mistakes. Teach me to accept each day as a new opportunity from You. Give me support in You, and not in what is around me. Amen.
