KINDNESS

JAMES 4:17
“So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin”.

WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
The Apostle James speaks of a simple yet profound truth: sin is not only doing something bad, but also failing to do good when you have the opportunity. If a person understands that they ought to help, support, show mercy, but passes by – this is also a sin before God.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
Responsibility for knowledge. If we know the right thing to do but consciously choose not to do it, God sees it as sin.
Kindness is not an option, but an obligation. Faith without deeds is dead. God expects us to demonstrate love and kindness through particular actions.
Excuses do not work. We often say, “later”, “it's none of my business”, “I have no time”. But before God, knowing the right path always obligates us to follow it.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
This verse reveals the depth of the concept of sin. We are accustomed to thinking of sin as murder, theft, and lying. But God shows us that sin is also inaction where action is needed. This revolutionizes our understanding and makes us more responsible towardsGod and others.
HOW TO USE IT TODAY
• If you see someone in need, do not delay helping.
• Start with simple things: a kind word, support, a small action – it can change someone's life.
• Ask yourself a question: “Do I know how I can act kindly now?” If so, take action.
CONCLUSION
Sin is not only evil but also lost good. God wants us to be active in love, in helping, in righteousness. Every moment when we choose to do what is right, we reflect His light.
FINAL THOUGHT
True faith is shown not in words, but in doing good when we can.
PRAYER
Lord, forgive me for those times when I knew the right thing to do, but chose to remain silent or pass by. Teach me to be attentive to people around me, to recognize their needs and not postpone helping until later. Grant me the strength and heart to love with deeds, not just words. Amen.
