JOHN 9:39 “And Jesus said, ‘For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind’”.
WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT? Jesus spoke these words after healing a man born blind. The miracle was not simply the restoration of eyesight, but a symbol of spiritual truth. Jesus explains that His coming into the world opens the eyes of those willing to humbly admit their need for God, while simultaneously revealing the blindness of those who consider themselves spiritually “seeing”, but in fact reject the truth. WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE? 1. God reveals truth to the humble. Those who admit their weakness and need for Him receive spiritual vision and understanding of the truth. 2. Pride deprives a person of clarity and spiritual vision. Those who think they know and understand everything without God remain spiritually blind. 3. Only Christ gives true vision. Neither knowledge, nor academic degree, nor experience, nor religiosity alone provide light without humility and obedience to God. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT? We often think we understand everything and can handle everything on our own. But it is exactly the recognition of our limitations that opens our eyes to God's truth. This verse reminds us: one can have physical sight, but remain spiritually blind. Or one can be “small” in the eyes of this world, but see God and His glory. CONCLUSION True spiritual vision is the ability to see the world through God's eyes. It comes not through pride and religious knowledge, but through humility and faith in Christ. FINAL THOUGHT God reveals the truth to those who honestly admit: “Lord, I do not see, teach me to see, I want this”. HOW TO USE IT TODAY • Check your heart: am I living under the illusion that I understand everything in this life without God? • Pray not only for external needs, but also for the Lord to allow you to see the truth and wisdom in making decisions in any situation. • Learn humility: listen more, argue less, allow God to open your spiritual eyes through His Word (the Bible). PRAYER Lord, I admit that I often think I know and understand everything. Forgive me when pride and vanity blind me. Open my spiritual eyes so that I can always see Your truth, Your love, and Your path. Grant me the humility to accept my circumstances and trials and to trust You more than my thoughts, feelings, or other people’s advice. Let my heart be open to Your light, and teach me humility. Amen.
