GALATIANS 6:7–8
“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the spirit, from the spirit will reap eternal life”.
WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
This passage is about a law of life that works regardless of faith, religion, or beliefs. In his message to the Galatians, the Apostle Paul speaks of a principle familiar to everyone: our life is the result of what and where we “sow” daily. This is not about one-time actions, but about the direction of our lives.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
God warns: self-deception is the most dangerous form of deception. “God cannot be mocked” means it is impossible to live as you want and expect different consequences. You cannot sow destruction and hope for peace. You cannot live only for yourself and expect fulfillment.
“Flesh” here is not the body, but a life focused on oneself: one's desires, self-interest, pride, control, pleasure at any cost. “Spirit” is a life oriented toward God's values: truth, love, sacrifice, fidelity, meaning.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Many people live with the feeling: “I'm just unlucky”, “life is unfair”, “why did everything turn out this way?”
This verse speaks honestly: consequences are not random. They arise from our choices, decisions, and priorities. Not immediately, not instantly, but inevitably.
HOW TO USE IT TODAY
• Take an honest look at your life: what are you sowing now – in the flesh or in the spirit?
• Pay attention to the small things: words, thoughts, habits – it is them that shape the harvest.
• Make at least one conscious choice in favor of truth, even if it is difficult.
CONCLUSION
A person's life is a harvest. It always comes; the only question is what was sown first and where.
FINAL THOUGHT
God does not punish – He opens people’s eyes. This verse is not a threat, but an invitation to maturity: to consciously choose what to let into your heart, what to fill your thoughts with, and what to live for. Because this is what will one day become our reality.
PRAYER
God, help me see and choose the spiritual over the carnal. I do not want to deceive myself and reap what destroys. Teach me to sow to the spirit – truth, love, and fidelity. Change my heart and lead me to a life that is meaningful and eternal. Amen.
