GRATITUDE

PSALTER 117:1
“Praise the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy endures forever”.

WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
This verse is a call to gratitude to God. The psalmist begins the psalm with a reminder of two important truths: God is good and His mercy endures forever.
These are not just poetic words, but the basis for praise, gratitude, and trust in God.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
“Praise the Lord”.
Praise to God is not just a religious tradition; it is a person's response to God's goodness and mercy.
“For He is good” – God is good by His nature. His character does not change due to circumstances, like a person's mood.
“For His mercy endures forever” – God's mercy is not temporary or accidental. It is constant. Even when a person falls or experiences difficulties, God's mercy remains.
This verse reminds us: the basis of our gratitude is not only the blessings received, but the very character of God.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Man tends to thank God only when things are going well. But Scripture teaches us to see God's mercy even in difficult times. Understanding God's goodness helps us not lose trust in Him.
HOW TO USE IT TODAY
• Find time to thank God for His mercy in your life.
• Remind yourself that God's goodness does not depend on circumstances.
• Learn to thank God not only for His gifts, but also for who He is.
CONCLUSION
Gratitude to God is born from understanding His unchangeable goodness and mercy.
FINAL THOUGHT
Circumstances may change, but God's mercy remains.
When a person remembers this, their heart finds the basis for gratitude even in the midst of difficulties.
PRAYER
Lord, I thank You for Your goodness and for Your mercy that has no end.
Help me remember this and praise You in any circumstances of my life. Help me have a grateful heart. Amen.
