JOHN 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid”.
WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT? Jesus says this to his disciples before His suffering and death. He leaves, but promises to leave them His peace. This peace is not peace in the sense of the absence of war or problems, but a deep inner peace that emanates from Him and that no one can take away. WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE? 1. Christ’s peace is different from the earthly peace. The peace of this world is based on circumstances: when everything is fine, we are calm; when something falls apart, we are anxious. But Christ’s peace does not depend on the external. It is built on the presence of God in the heart. 2. This (inner) peace is a gift, not an achievement. It cannot be bought, earned, or built by one's own efforts. It is a gift from Christ to those who trust Him. 3. The peace of God conquers fear. Jesus says: “Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid”. He knows that there are difficulties ahead, but He gives one the strength to endure them with the confidence that He is near. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT? Every person seeks peace: some in money, some in their careers, some in their relationships. But all of this is temporary and fragile. True peace only comes from Christ – it is being sure that your life is in God's hands, that He controls everything, even chaos. This peace brings calmness to one’s soul even in the midst of a storm. HOW TO USE IT TODAY 1. Pray when anxiety comes. Instead of immersing yourself in worries, remind yourself of Jesus' words: “My peace I give to you”. Turn to Jesus in prayer. He gives inner peace. 2. Give God what you cannot control. The peace of Christ comes when we stop holding everything in our own hands. Say in your heart, “Lord, I entrust this situation to You”, and trust God. 3. Do not seek calmness in your circumstances. When everything is fine, it is easy to be calm. But try to find peace not in what is around you, but in the One who is within – in the presence of Christ. 4. Return to this verse again and again. Read it when you are afraid. Repeat it when your heart is troubled. Let these words become an anchor for your soul. CONCLUSION Jesus’ peace is His presence in us, not the absence of problems around us. By accepting this gift, one’s heart gains a support that will not break under the weight of circumstances. FINAL THOUGHT Human peace is like sand that slips through your fingers. God's peace is like a solid rock on which you can stand. Those who accept Christ's peace stop living by fear and begin to live by trust. PRAYER Jesus, You promised to give Your disciples peace – and I ask for that peace today. Fill my heart with Your serenity, which is stronger than worries and fears. Help me trust You when circumstances are frightening. Grant me to live not by the worries of this world, but by Your truth and presence in my life. May my heart find peace in You. Amen.
