WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
This verse is about the reality which people usually try to ignore: everything they rely on is temporary. And at the same time, it is about another reality: there is something that never changes and never disappears — God.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
“All flesh is grass” — God calls people grass not to demean them, but to show the scale of the reality: human life is limited and cannot be the ultimate support. What people rely on — strength, health, opportunities, resources, control — all this is beyond their control.
“All its beauty is like the flower of the field” — this refers to what seems significant: success, recognition, achievements, fame. But these things are short-lived. They are here today, gone tomorrow.
“The grass withers, the flower fades” — this is not an accident, but a pattern. Everything human is subject to change and decay. And the depth of the problem is not simply that everything passes, but that people build their lives as if it does not.
“But the word of God will stand forever” — that is the center. God's word is the truth that does not change or collapse. Everything around us may change, but what God has spoken remains. And this can be the true foundation. People seek support in what disappears, while true support lies in what remains.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
People rely on what they see: plans, stability, people, themselves, resources. But all of this can change in a single day. And when this happens, a sense of loss of support arises. This verse reveals the reason: the foundation was temporary. The question is not whether something will change — that is inevitable. The question is what one stands on. If the person relies on themselves, decline and decay are inevitable. If they rely on God, a solid and unchanging foundation emerges.
HOW TO USE IT TODAY
• Take an honest look at what you rely on.
• See what is temporary.
• Do not make the temporary the most important thing.
• Begin to seek the foundation that is unchanging and eternal – God.

Grant me the sobriety to see what is truly important. Teach me not to cling to external things as a foundation, but to seek You and Your truth.
