WISDOM

LUKE 11:28
“He replied, ‘Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it’”

WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
One day, a woman in the crowd, filled with admiration for Jesus, loudly declared how blessed the mother who bore Him must be. But Jesus shifts the focus from outward admiration to what matters most. He explains that true blessing lies not in special status, lineage, or physical closeness to Him. The truly happy person is the one who hears God’s Word and lives by it. It is not enough simply to know what God says; it is vital to let His Word transform your heart, thoughts, and actions.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
God wants His Word to become an integral part of our lives. We might read the Bible regularly, listen to sermons, and memorize many verses. Yet, if God’s Word does not influence our decisions and actions, it remains merely intellectual knowledge.
Jesus says that true blessing comes when a person not only hears God but trusts Him enough to live according to His Word.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Because knowledge alone does not change one’s life. Life changes when truth becomes our way of living. Every time we choose to act according to God’s teaching, our faith deepens and our relationship with God grows stronger. Obedience to God’s Word is not a burdensome duty, but the path to the real life God intended for us.
HOW TO USE IT TODAY
1. After reading the Bible, ask yourself: “What does God want me to change or do today?”
2. Choose at least one truth from God’s Word and strive to put it into practice.
3. If God’s Word convicts you, do not make excuses; instead, ask God to help you take a step toward obedience.
CONCLUSION
God seeks more than just listeners of His Word. He seeks people who are willing to trust Him enough to live according to what He says.
FINAL THOUGHT
The Bible was given to us not only to be read. It was given so that God might transform our lives through it. When God’s Word becomes part of our hearts, it gradually becomes part of our entire lives.
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for Your Word. I do not want to be someone who only listens but never changes. Help me to accept Your truth with all my heart and to live as You teach. Give me the desire not only to know Your Word, but also to put it into practice every day. I cannot do this without You. Amen.
