WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
This verse shows who God wants to be for man.
The “sun” is an image of light, warmth, life and direction. Without the sun, everything gradually dies. So without God, the human soul begins to lose real light and life.
“Shield” is an image of protection.
God does not promise that there will never be difficulties in life, but He promises to always be a protection and support among them.
Then the psalmist says that God “will give grace and glory”. Grace is the undeserved love, help and mercy of God towards man. And also very important words: “no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly”. It is not about people who never make mistakes. It is about those who sincerely try to live honestly before God, without playing a double life.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
God does not want to be something distant and formal for man. He wants to be the light when it is dark inside. Protection – when it is scary. Support – when man is tired.
Very often people look for all this in money, other people, success or control over life. But no earthly support can completely remove the fear and emptiness inside. God offers man not temporary support, but Himself.
And this verse also reminds us: God sees man’s heart and appreciates sincerity. The world may not notice the person's honesty, kindness and inner purity, but God sees and appreciates it.

Because sometimes it seems to people that living honestly and correctly is pointless. It seems as if dishonest people win faster, while kind and sincere people suffer more often. But this verse reminds us that God does not overlook anything. He does not leave a person who tries to follow the path of truth, even if this path is very difficult. And God's blessings are not just material things. The greatest blessing is peace of heart, God's presence, and a life that has real meaning.

- When there is fear or anxiety inside, remind yourself that God can be your protection and support.

Lord, I do not always feel easy and calm, but thank you that I can be free from fear when I am next to You.
Be my light when it is dark inside, and my protection when it is difficult. Help me not to lose You in the hustle and bustle and trust You with my heart. Amen.
