WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
These are Jesus' words before the crucifixion. He speaks of what exactly will happen through His death and why it is necessary for man.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
“This is My Blood” — Jesus speaks of His life, which He lays down. Blood in the Bible is a symbol of life. This means that He gives Himself completely.
"The Covenant" (the New Testament) is an agreement. Previously, relationships with God were built through law and sacrifice. Now Jesus says: a new foundation begins through Himself. This is not about rules, but about a living connection with God.
“Poured out for many” — this means that He does this not for Himself, but for people. Voluntarily.
“For the forgiveness of sins” — this is the key. Sin is not just bad deeds, but everything that separates a person from God. Jesus says that through Him this separation can be removed. In other words, He takes upon Himself what man can never fix on his own.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
A person can try, strive, improve, live correctly, but they cannot solve the underlying problem on their own, because it is not just a matter of actions, but of one’s state.
Jesus shows that restoring a relationship with God occurs not through human effort, but through what He has done. This is the foundation of faith. Not “I deserve it”, but “it is given to me for free”.
HOW TO USE IT TODAY
• Stop trying to “earn” acceptance.
• Realize that forgiveness is a gift.
• Accept what Christ has done.
• Begin to build a relationship with God on this foundation.
