KINDNESS

PROVERBS 19:17
“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done”.

WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
This verse tells us that God accepts good deeds done to the poor and needy as if we had done them personally for Him. Mercy toward others is not simply a human deed, but a spiritual action which God sees and surely rewards.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
1. God views helping those in need as a personal debt to Himself.
When we feed the hungry, or support the weak, or help the poor, it is tantamount to “lending” to God himself.
2. Our mercy is never wasted. People may forget to thank us, but God never forgets. He repays with blessing, protection, and care.
3. True wealth is measured not by what we have accumulated, but by what we have given. A kind heart and a willingness to share reflect God's character in us.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
This verse teaches us to view helping others not as a loss, but as an investment in eternity. In the world, people often fear losing something of theirs, but God promises: no one will become poor from kindness and generosity.
HOW TO USE IT TODAY
• Notice those around youself who are truly in trouble – the poor, the sick, the lonely.
• Share what you have: time, attention, money, food.
• Do good not for praise or gratitude, but for God's sake.
CONCLUSION
By helping someone in need, we are actually performing a spiritual act – we are "lending" to God. And God promises to reward every good deed.
FINAL THOUGHT
A kind heart is not just a virtue; it is the language we use to speak to God. And God responds to this language with His generosity.
PRAYER
Lord, teach me to see those around me who need help.
Open my heart so I do not pass by anyone’s trouble. Bless my hands, so they are open to kindness, and fill my heart with generosity and love for my neighbor. Amen.
