FIDELITY

WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
(These words are spoken by the devil.)
After forty days of fasting in the desert, the devil tempts Jesus. He shows Him the power and glory of all the kingdoms of the world and offers to obtain it all quickly and immediately. But there is a condition: worship him, that is, acknowledge his authority. Essentially, this is an offer to obtain power without the cross, without suffering, and without following God's path.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
Evil often offers people an easy way. To get what they want quickly, immediately, and without a difficult path.
But there is always a price – the loss of truth and fidelity to God. Through this verse, God shows us:
not everything that looks attractive and brings power or success leads to good.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Every person faces a similar choice during their life. Sometimes, one can get:
• success in a dishonest way
• profit at the cost of one’s conscience
• power at the cost of truth
And at such moments, the person faces the same question: what will they put higher – God and truth or temporary gain?
HOW TO USE IT TODAY
When we come across an easy path that requires sacrificing conscience, it is important to stop and ask ourselves: is the temporary gain worth the loss of truth?
Fidelity to God sometimes requires rejecting easy decisions, but it is this path that leads to true life.
CONCLUSION
Jesus shows that no power or glory is worth worshiping the evil.
True victory is to remain faithful to God, even if the path seems harder and longer.
FINAL THOUGHT
Satan offers kingdoms of this world that will one day disappear. God offers a Kingdom that will never end. And those who choose fidelity to God choose not temporary gain, but eternal life and true freedom.
PRAYER
Lord, protect my heart from temptations that lead away from the truth. Help me never exchange my fidelity to You for the temporary gains of this world. Grant me the wisdom to always choose truth and faithfulness to You, even when it is difficult. Strengthen my heart to follow You along the narrow path. Amen.
