HUMILITY

PROVERBS 27:2
“Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips”.

WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
This verse speaks of humility and a proper attitude toward one's own importance. Solomon demonstrates the difference between inner dignity and the desire for self-exaltation.
Self-praise looks like confidence, but in reality it reveals a need for recognition and approval, which is vanity. Biblical wisdom teaches that true worth does not require self-promotion.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
1. A person does not need to prove their worth – God sees and affirms.
2. True authority and fruit become evident without words.
3. Humility keeps the heart pure and protects against pride and fall.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
The world encourages self-promotion and the ability to talk about oneself. But Scripture warns: self-praise distorts the heart and allows the terrible sin of pride to grow and bear fruit. When a person exalts themselves, they subtly place themselves at the center instead of God.
HOW TO USE IT TODAY
• Examine your motives: why am I talking about my achievements?
• Learn to rejoice when God is glorified through others, not through self-exaltation.
• Trust God to confirm your life and the results you achieve.
• Develop humility and gratitude in your heart.
CONCLUSION
Praise from others carries weight. Self-praise is empty, destructive, and dangerous in its consequences.
FINAL THOUGHT
A humble person does not seek recognition – his life speaks for him.
PRAYER
Lord, protect my heart from pride and self-exaltation. Teach me to live so that my fruit speaks louder than any words of mine. Help me seek not human glory, but Your approval. Let all the praise in my life belong to You. Amen.
