HUMILITY

LUKE 14:33
“In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be My disciples”.

WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
This is one of Jesus' most serious words about the price of discipleship.
At first glance, it might seem that Jesus is demanding that every believer literally sell all their possessions and live in poverty. But if we look at the context and the entire teaching of the New Testament, it becomes clear that Christ is speaking of something deeper.
It is not so much about man possessing things, but rather about whether things possess man.
Jesus says that nothing in our lives should take the place that only belongs to God. Neither money, nor success, nor position, nor even the things most precious to us should become more important than Christ.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
God does not want a part of a person's life, but their whole heart.
Following Christ cannot be reconciled with trying to maintain complete control over one's life. Being a disciple of Jesus means being ready to say, “Lord, everything I have is Yours, and I entrust You with it”.
This applies not only to possessions, but also to time, plans, dreams, relationships, and the future.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Because it is easy to seek security not in God, but in what you have.
Money, possessions, and success are not evil in themselves. The problem begins when they become the source of our confidence and identity. Jesus invites people to build their lives on a more solid foundation — on God Himself.
HOW TO USE IT TODAY
1. Honestly ask yourself: is there anything that takes God's place in your heart?
2. Thank God for everything you have, remembering that all of that is a gift from Him.
3. Learn to keep your plans, money, and achievements open to God, trusting Him to guide your life.
CONCLUSION
Discipleship begins when a person stops saying, “This is mine”, and begins saying,
“Lord, everything I have belongs to You”.
FINAL THOUGHT
God rarely asks a person to give up everything. But He often asks, “If I ask you to give this up, will you trust Me?” Very often, the answer to this question reveals who truly holds the first place in our hearts.
PRAYER
Lord, everything I have has come from You. Help me not to become more attached to things than to You. Teach me to entrust You with my present and my future, my plans and my dreams.
I do not want anything in my life to become more important than You. Help me to be Your disciple not only in words, but with all my heart. Amen.
