WISDOM

MATTHEW 24:23–27
“Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand. So, if they say to you, ‘Look, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man”

WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
Jesus warns: people will appear in the world who will claim to be the Messiah or prophets, including the antichrist, and will perform quite impressive feats and miracles to deceive people.
Jesus warns and asks us not to panic or rush following the hype.
The true coming of Christ will not be secret or localized – it will be open and obvious everywhere in the world.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
1. Caution (vigilance) against deception.
False Christs and false prophets use astonishing miracles and powerful words to gain attention and trust.
2. Do not give in to hype and panic.
When someone says, “Christ is here” or “there”, it is an attempt to lead people astray from common sense. Jesus says: do not believe it.
His coming will not be a secret “action”; it will be obvious and universal – like a lightning, visible to everyone at the same time.
3. Prepare not by looking for “signs and wonders”, but through steadfastness and faithfulness. Being warned is an armor. Jesus speaks and warns us in advance so that we do not fall victim to deception and manipulation, but remain faithful to the end. And even if false christs perform great miracles, we must not believe them and be deceived.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
• Because during a crisis, people easily lose their minds and trust the mass media.
• Because true faith is based not on external impressions, but on proven truth.
• Because any buzz, omens, and hype can undermine faith and faithfulness.
HOW TO USE IT TODAY
1. Strengthen your personal relationship with God.
People who know the voice of Christ will not run after someone else's (John 10:4-5). Reading Scripture and praying help us learn the truth faster than any fake “miracles and omens”.
2. Be calm when there is panic around you.
Panic is a deceiver's main tool. If you are afraid inside, stop and pray before making any decision.
3. Look at the fruit.
Christ said, “By their fruits you will recognize them” (Matthew 7:16). Deception leads to pride, personality cults, fear, and division. Truth leads to humility, love, and peace.
CONCLUSION
Jesus warns us not to look for Him where He is absent, and not to allow miracles and false christs to obscure our common sense. His coming will be apparent, not secret.
FINAL THOUGHT
Christ will come so obviously that neither news, nor web resources, nor hype will be needed.
Anything fake will be used in all areas of the mass media to mislead people. And miracles and omens will become one of the antichrist's main tools for deceiving people.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for leaving us Your word to warn and strengthen us.
Jesus, grant us wisdom to resist deception and discern truth from lies.
Protect us from turmoil and panic. Strengthen our faith so that, when those days come, we may remain faithful to the end.
Help us stand firm in the days of difficulty and be a support for others. Amen.
