DILIGENCE

JOHN 6:27
“Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed His seal”.

WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
Jesus speaks these words to the people who were seeking Him after the miracle of the bread feeding. They came because they had received bread and wanted to see the miracle again.
But Christ directs their attention deeper: a person needs not only bread for the body, but also food for the soul.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
“Food that spoils” refers to everything that sustains earthly life: food, material things, temporary needs. These are sometimes important, but they are temporary.
“Food that endures to eternal life” refers to the spiritual life that Christ provides. This is truth, salvation, and a relationship with God that lead a person to eternal life. Jesus shows:
a person can become preoccupied only with earthly concerns and forget about what is most important – their soul.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
People naturally worry about their everyday needs: work, money, security. But if one's entire life is focused only on the temporary things, one can miss the eternal. This verse reminds us: the human soul needs spiritual food just as the body needs bread.
HOW TO USE IT TODAY
• Concern not only with material needs, but also with the state of your soul.
• Find time to communicate with God and His Word (the Bible).
• Remember that the most valuable things in life are connected to eternity, not to the temporary and perishable.
CONCLUSION
Earthly concerns are partly important, but they should not obscure the main goal – life and communication with God.
FINAL THOUGHT
A person can be full in body and still remain hungry in soul.
Jesus says: there is food that provides not only temporary support, but leads to eternal life. This food can be given by Him only.
PRAYER
Jesus, I thank You for physical bread, for work, for a home. Help me not to forget what is most important and not to fuss over the temporary things. Fill my soul with Your truth and a thirst for spiritual bread. Help me, amidst this worldly vanity, to cut away what steals precious time for the eternal. I want to learn You so much, for I understand that only in You is there meaning and life. Amen.
