MATTHEW 18:10 “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their Angels in heaven always see the face of My Father in Heaven”.
WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT? Jesus warns his disciples: do not disdain those who seem “little” or “insignificant” in your eyes. “Little” could mean ordinary people, children, the uneducated, or those who are spiritually weaker. They are precious to God. Their value is so great that each of them has an angel who constantly appears before the Father. WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE? 1. Every person is valuable. In our world, we are accustomed to evaluating people by their status, success, or strength. However, God sees things differently – for Him, the “little” are just as important as the “great”. 2. God has protection for the weak. Angels are not just pretty images, but real spirits on duty. God reminds us that those whom people tend to humiliate or ignore are under His special protection. 3. Contempt = opposition to God. If I look down on someone whom God values and protects, then I come in conflict with Him. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT? • Because we can easily underestimate people – those who seem weaker, poorer, or not “spiritual” enough. • Because God sees every offense, neglect, and humiliation, and it is serious for Him. • Because caring for the “little ones” is a test of true love and the maturity of one’s heart. CONCLUSION Jesus turns our mindset upside down: those who are “insignificant” in the eyes of society are not on the fringes of God's plan. Their value is so great that their lives and destinies are directly tied to heaven. When we despise them, we despise God Himself. FINAL THOUGHT Anyone who wants to be close to God must learn to see value in those the world considers as the “little”. This is where Christ’s heart is revealed. Love for a “little” person is love for God Himself. HOW TO USE IT TODAY • Show respect for those who seem weaker or simpler. • Notice those who are usually overlooked (children, the elderly, new believers, shy people). • Stop comparing people by their success, appearance, or status – in God's eyes, everyone is of equal value. PRAYER Lord, forgive me if I have ever looked down on other people. Teach me to see Your creation and Your value in everyone. Grant me a heart that respects, loves, and supports those who are weaker and more vulnerable. And if I myself feel small and forgotten, remind me that I am always under Your protection and that Your angels are by my side. Amen.
