LOVE

MATTHEW 7:1
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged”.

WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
Jesus speaks of people's habit to judge others quickly. “Judging" here does not simply mean distinguishing between good and evil, but rather passing judgment on someone: criticizing, humiliating, and considering oneself superior.
Jesus warns: how we treat others is how God will treat us. If we are generous with mercy, we will receive mercy; if we are strict and cold, we will be judged strictly, too.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
1. Do not take God's place.
Judgment is the Creator's right. When we judge, we take the Judge’s place, even though we ourselves are not without sin.
2. Be attentive to your heart.
Most often, we condemn what we ourselves struggle with. Condemnation reveals hidden problems within us.
3. Mercy is greater than judgment.
God wants us to learn not to look for the faults of others, but to see a person and help him or her rise.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Because judgment destroys relationships and hardens one’s heart. We stop seeing God's image in others and begin to judge them by our own standards. And this makes us proud and closed to mercy.
HOW TO USE IT TODAY
• Check your thoughts. When you catch yourself judging, stop: “What if I were judged for the same thing?”
• Replace judgment with a prayer.
Instead of saying, “He is lazy, proud, sinful”, say, “Lord, bless him, help him change”.
• Learn to be merciful in little things.
Do not rush to criticize and judge, but try to understand what lies behind another person's action.
• Look inside. Ask yourself: “Why does this action hurt me so much? Maybe I myself need correction?”
CONCLUSION
Jesus shows us that judgment is a mirror. When we judge others, we unwittingly condemn ourselves. Everyone has weaknesses and mistakes, and God wants us to care more about our own hearts than about other people’s failings. The true strength of a Christian lies not in the ability to criticize, but in the ability to love where the world is accustomed to despise.
FINAL THOUGHT
God is the only Judge. And if we judge our neighbor, we seemingly take that role from Him. But when we choose mercy instead of judgment, we become similar to Christ. Mercy is always higher than justice, because it was mercy that saved us on the cross.
PRAYER
Lord, Father of mercy,
I admit that I often judge others, not realizing how much mercy You show me every day. Forgive my pride and my hastiness in words.
Teach me to love as You love this world – not by merit, but by grace.
Grant me a soft and open heart that seeks justification, not condemnation.
May my eyes see Your image in everyone, and may my lips be a source of comfort, not judgment. Amen.
