LUKE 18:1 “Then He told them a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up”.
WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT? This verse is the introduction to the parable of the persistent widow. Jesus immediately explains the meaning of the parable: pray and not give up. It speaks of the state of a person who waits a long time for an answer and can lose hope. WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE? Jesus knows the human nature: when an answer is delayed, a person begins to doubt, grow weary, and give up. Therefore, He teaches that prayer is not a one-time request, but a constant trust in God. “Not give up” means not allowing disappointment to stop your communication with God. Persistent prayer does not convince God to act – it forms a heart that continues to trust. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT? Many people stop praying exactly when an answer has not yet come. Waiting becomes a test of faith. This verse reminds us: God hears, even when the answer does not come immediately. Sometimes a delay in getting an answer is a time when God works deeper than we understand. HOW TO USE IT TODAY • Do not stop praying if an answer is delayed. • Bring your requests to God again and again. • Let prayer become not just a request, but also a trust. CONCLUSION Prayer is not just a request; it is an expression of trust in God that continues even while waiting. FINAL THOUGHT When a person stops praying, they often lose hope and become discouraged. But where prayer continues, the connection with God is also maintained, even during the longest and most difficult waits. PRAYER Lord, teach me to pray and not lose heart. When the answer does not come immediately, strengthen my faith. Help me continue to trust You even when I see no way out and my faith is fading. Help me not to give up and not to lose hope. Amen.
