DILIGENCE

PROVERBS 10:16
“The wage of the righteous leads to life, the gain of the wicked to sin”.

WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
This verse is about the ultimate outcome of a person's life. Two people can work, achieve, and build their lives, but the results will be different because their foundations are different.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
1. NOT ONLY THE WORK IS IMPORTANT, BUT ALSO THE FOUNDATION.
Both the righteous and the wicked are doing something: they plan, work, and achieve.
But the meaning is not simply in the activity of work and diligence, but in what life is built on and what motivates a person.
2. “THE WAGE OF THE RIGHTEOUS LEADS TO LIFE”.
The righteous are not perfect people. They are those who build their lives with God and strive to act truthfully. And their work ultimately preserves, builds, and leads to life.
3. “THE GAIN OF THE WICKED TO SIN”.
The wicked is a person who lives without God, relying only on themselves and their own strength.
Even if they achieve success, this success can strengthen pride, lead further away from the truth, destroy from within if it contradicts the truth, and ultimately lead to a fall.
4. THE RESULT DEPENDS ON THE DIRECTION.
Outwardly and at the beginning of the path, both may seem to be going well. But one is moving toward life, the other toward destruction. The final result is different.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Today, only the result is often valued: achievements, money, status, power.
But this verse shows: it is not just “what you have achieved” that matters, but where it has led you internally and ultimately.
HOW TO USE IT TODAY
1. Ask yourself: what are my life and my daily decisions and actions leading me to?
2. Look not only at the external results of your work, but also at your inner state.
3. Check if your path is built on yourself and your own strengths or on God.
4. Begin to align your direction with the right foundation, and not just the efforts of earning money and career advancement.
CONCLUSION
Not every success leads to life. What is more important is the direction and foundation, not the result and “temporary success”.
FINAL THOUGHT
You can achieve much and still lose yourself. Or you can walk with God, relying on truth, and then even ordinary work becomes part of life.
PRAYER
Lord, show me where my path leads me.
Help me build my life so that it leads to life, not to destruction. Teach me to rely on You in everything I do. Protect me from mistakes, pride, and self-interest. Amen.
