GRATITUDE

PSALM 102:2
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits”.

WHAT IS THIS VERSE ABOUT?
The psalmist David addresses himself here: “Forget not...”
Because people quickly become accustomed to good things. We often remember pain, problems, and experiences, but we easily forget how many times God has already helped, supported, saved, and lifted us up. This verse is a reminder of gratitude. Not about formal words, but about a state of heart that can notice God's care even in simple things.
Sometimes people expect only great miracles and therefore lose sight of small miracles: a new day, people nearby, support, open doors, the strength to live further on, moments of peace amid difficulties.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT TO SAY THROUGH THIS VERSE?
God wants the human heart not to become blind to kindness.
When a person lives only with problems, their heart gradually becomes filled with heaviness, anxiety, and discontent. But gratitude changes one's inner state. It reminds one that God has been there before — therefore, He will not abandon on now either.
A grateful heart does not mean that life will be without difficulties. It is a heart which, even in the midst of difficulties, continues to see God's hand in everything.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Because it is very easy for a person to focus only on the problems and forget how many times God has helped them before. When the heart remembers God's fidelity, the strength to overcome new difficulties without despair appears inside.
It is as if David reminds himself: “Do not forget how much good God has already done for you”.
It is gratitude that helps one’s heart avoid sinking into darkness, but continue to see God's light even during difficult periods in life.
HOW TO USE IT TODAY
- Think of at least a few moments when God has already helped or supported you.
- Learn to notice the good even in simple things that have become habitual.
- Thank God not only when everything is perfect, but also for being there at every stage of your life.
CONCLUSION
God does much more for us than we sometimes realize. And when we learn to remember God's care, more peace, trust, and light appear in our hearts.
FINAL THOUGHT
Sometimes the greatest miracle is not what God will do tomorrow, but how many times He has already held us before, even when you did not fully understand it.
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for everything, You do so much for me. Forgive me when I focus more on my problems than on Your care. Help me remember how many times You have already supported me and been by my side. May my heart be filled with more gratitude and trust in You than with worries about difficulties. Amen.
